...when there are so many household items to lick?

Second Annual Christmas Tree Hunt

This Saturday we went with our good friends William and Heather to hunt down a Christmas tree on his family's farm. It's the second year we've gone out there, so I guess that makes it a tradition.

Everyone got in on the fun.

Mark and William were in charge of the chainsaw

So, sensibly, I took a turn with Simon.

William and Heather found a full, tall tree.

Here's Heather holding our slightly more modest tree.

I think a comparison to Charlie Brown's Christmas would be fair.

But Simon doesn't seem to mind one bit.

picture overload

Well, we've got a fun new toy in our house: a Chromebook. For those of you who don't know, a Chromebook is basically a laptop that only runs the internet. There's no real hard drive to speak of -- just internet. This has forced us to start saving things in "the cloud," and we've used this opportunity to finally get our pictures organized and all in one place. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that in our "Simon 0-6 months" folder, we have 440 pictures. Yikes. But, in our defense, a lot has happened in the last six months. He's gone from this:

Big man on campus

Sarah takes Simon up to work for a total of three hours a week.  The other day a student came up to Sarah and said, "Oh you must be Simon's mom."  I guess he is getting a reputation.

Six Months

Simon is six months old now, and according to our recent visit to the pediatrician, about the size of an average one year old. Our doctor said, "he's tall. You know he's tall, right?" I had an idea when I put him in 12 month pants the other day. He can roll around, almost sit up, eat peas (his favorite) and other assorted fruits and veggies, and sleep all the way through the night. He thinks it's hilarious when we hum Darth Vader's theme from Star Wars. That's how I got him to smile for the camera. He also loves to grab for Millie's face. She doesn't seem to mind so far and has even occasionally brought him her ball. It's a good life.
