After 4 days in Poland (the students I'm with are keeping a blog, which you can read at ccms15.tumblr.com), we arrived at one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Our hotel is on a mountainside, and the surrounding area is filled with little European villages, farm fields, and church steeples. And my room is really nice. I feel really blessed to be here right now. I'll try to post a few pictures, in all their grainy iPod glory.
This hotel is a big change from our soviet-bloc style hotel in Prague, which was definitely a cultural experience. A little like stepping out of a time machine (though it's worth noting that was the only thing in Prague that was so firmly communist-esque).
A hike today and laundry. Then we are back to our learning/working routine.
As family and friends get more and more spread out, this is our way of letting you know what's going on in our life, in case you were wondering.

Vacation
I'm writing this from an apartment in Zory, Poland. I'm traveling with students right now. We started in Prague, traveled to Zory a few days ago, and will spend a few more days in Poland (including a trip to Auschwitz tomorrow). Then back to Czech Republic, specifically Malenovice and then Ceske Budejovice. A good time so far. It's been a great experience to be with Christians in both these countries. And I've eaten some great food, but since it's nearly impossible to take a good picture of food, I'll leave you with a photo of my Czech beer, enjoyed at Cafe Kafka in Prague.

One Year
Here are Simon's one year pictures, just about a month and a half too late. It seems like the more mobile he gets, the less we update this blog.
Here are some of his latest stats:
- He's walking exclusively now, and has even mastered walking quickly and bending down to pick something up and then standing back up again. He loves to walk in a loop around our house and often laughs when he realizes he's found his way back into the living room.
- He has ten words (in the order he learned them, as best as I can remember): this, fan, car, clock, shake, bath, bye bye, dada, maraca, and shoes. Mama has *maybe* made an appearance. It's hard to say for sure.
- He loves to dance. We have not taught him this, but it started when we were at the Mexican restaurant. He would bop around and swing his arm as if conducting (that his Grandad taught him). He tries to whistle.
- He's a little bit of a picky eater, but we can always count on him to eat either kidney beans or strawberries.
- He really enjoys watching himself in the user-facing camera on my ipod.
