I've just got a minute, but it's been awhile since we've posted, and we had kind of a big weekend in Chattanooga, TN.
We left Friday late afternoon and started driving south; we got a hotel in Bristol VA, and I was super excited about the possibility of a good ol' southern breakfast -- I think I might have actually dreamed about Biscuits and Gravy. We ended up at the same breakfast place in Sevierville where we ate a few months ago, and I did get the breakfast I'd been dreaming about. Mark missed his opportunity to eat something special and got an omlette, but then the breakfast was my big wish; his wish was for a Mexican dinner. Well, after breakfast, we went over to a newly opened Bass Pro Shop, and it was c-r-a-z-y. About as big as a Walmart (130,000 sq. ft.), and two stories tall, this place had nothing but hunting/fishing/camping gear. We talked to one of the employees, and he told us that there were 500 taxidermied animals hanging out in different spots in the store. I believe it. They had so many taxidermined animals, they had some dressed in people clothes, some hiding in corners, even a stuffed dear laying in a tent that was for sale. They also had an electronic shooting range. Every last detail of the store was decorated, and it reminded me of nothing so much as Disney's Bear Country Jamboree... except it was filled with ways to kill the bears. But the craziest part of the whole store was this indoor waterfall. It was probably 30 feet high -- going from above the second floor down to the first floor and landing in a giant aqauarium (maybe 10 feet high itself) where they had live bass and other local fish swimming around. We took a picture, but since I want to get this post up sometime this month, I'm going to show a picture of one from a similar store instead of waiting until I get around to actually loading the pictures from our camera... There are some at the top of the post. I'm not sure how to get the pics in the middle of the text.
Once we finally found our way out of the hunting store, we made our way down to Chattanooga and had a lovely weekend. Mark got some Mexican food; we did some exploring. We also got to spend some time with Mary, Paul, Baby, and family. We felt so honored to be included in some of their time together...
Monday morning I had an interview with a school in Chattanooga. It would be starting as a part time position, but they really are planning on it growing into a full time position in the next year or two. It would be a pretty amazing opportunity, for sure. The interview went pretty well, and I think that we should know something definite in the next week or so.
We drove back Monday afternoon, and got back home late Monday night. Pearl was in town this morning, so we got to have some breakfast with her, so our transition from vacation to working world was more gentle for getting to spend some time with a good friend.
I think that's about it for now.
